A weekend in Budapest

I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list. Susan Sontag

I’ve been in Budapest many times, it is one of my favorite cities in Europe. For those who don’t know much about it, Budapest is Hungary’s capital, it has two main regions: Buda and Pest, which are divided by Danube river.

In March I went there with my boyfriend. It was his first time in Budapest so I showed him all the tourist attractions and nice places. We had only 3 days to see it all so we had to walk a lot.

We left from Cluj-Napoca airport on a Friday morning. The flight duration was short, only an hour but the weather difference was huge. In Cluj was a snow storm. Budapest was really sunny and warm.

I made a reservation for HILD-1 Apartments, which is set within 400 meters of Great Market Hall and Liberty Bridge. It was a really beautiful apartment in a old building and I enjoyed the fact that you could see Danube by looking out the window.

In the first day we walked along Danube and went to visit Buda Castle, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and the Hungarian Parliament Building.

In the evening we went to Hard Rock Cafe (my boyfriend collects Hard Rock badges), such a nice location, and I ate their Hot Fudge Brownie, which was absolutely heavenly.

During the second day we went to AMTS (Automobile and Tuning Show). It was absolutely awesome! See my post about it here: AMTS 2018.

In the evening we went to visit the Heroes’ Square with metro line 1 (oldest in Budapest) and then to Szimpla Kert, a really interesting and unique pub.
