Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ― Albert Camus
It’s autumn and I know that this weather can be a little depressing.. It’s cold outside and you are thinking that the winter is around the corner. That means lower temperature and really short days.
Despite all this, autumn has a wonderful side too. It can be absolutely magical. All you have to do is to admire it and it’s beauties.
Here is a list of things that you can do during this period to lift your spirits.
1. Jump In Leaf Piles
Make a pile of fallen leaves and just jump in it. Besides the fact that you get some physical activity, it will make you feel happy and like a child again. Also, you will get some fresh air, which will bust stress and increase happiness.
2. Make a pumpkin or apple pie
Here are 2 recipes that I always wanted to try and that I will definitely make this year:
3. Carve a pumpkin
I really like carving pumpkins, it is so relaxing. When you do this keep the seeds, they have a lot of health benefits.
I like to roast the seeds – they taste good and are easy to make. All you have to do is to preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and then put the seeds in a bowl with some melted butter and salt. After this, spread them in a layer on some baking sheet. Bake the seeds for 45 minutes or until they’re golden brown and stir from time to time.
4. Wear cozy scarfs and sweaters
This is pure happiness. Not only do they make you feel good but also they look absolutely adorable.
5. Buy Halloween decoration or make your own
The best thing about Halloween is that you can do it your way. It allows you to express your creativity with no limits or boundaries. Halloween has no script, no plan and you can be whoever you want and decorate however you like.
6. Movie marathon
This is the perfect time for a movie marathon! It’s cold and windy outside and almost nobody wants to go out. So make some hot chocolate, add some marshmallows and roll yourself in your favorite blanket (don’t forget to first put the remote control near you).
Choose some movies that you always wanted to watch and relax, you deserve it!
7. Drink mulled wine (or hot chocolate – depending on your age)
8. Roast chestnuts in your oven
I love chestnuts. They’re my favorite food since I was a child. My mother used to take me to the market with her to do shopping and I remember that during the autumn there were some people there that were selling roasted chestnuts. She was always buying a small bag of them and she was helping me peel them because they were really hot and hard to peel for a child.
9. Take a weekend break somewhere in your country
I’m living in Romania, so here are some nice places to visit: Seven Ladders Canyon, Bigar Cascade Falls, Lake Vidraru, Făgăraș Citadel, Poenari Citadel (be prepared to climb 1,480 stairs), Biertan fortified church, Râșnov Citadel. All of these locations are absolutely marvelous.
10. Host a Halloween party or attend one
Prepare your home decorations, some music, food, something to drink, put on your costume and enjoy Halloween. It’s only once a year so make the best of it!
