Music is the strongest form of Magic.
Electric Castle is a Romanian music festival that takes place in Transylvania, on the spectacular domain of Banffy Castle, near Cluj-Napoca.
It took place last weekend and the biggest names in the lineup were: 30 Seconds to Mars, Bring Me The Horizon, Florence and The Machine, Limp Bizkit, While She Sleeps, Metric, The Vaccines, Chinese Man, Sofi Tukker.
This festival is by far my favorite festival in Romania. I really like the diversity you can find here. From the music genres to people, everything is super diverse.
Because it takes place in a small village near Cluj, called Bontida, you have to take the bus/train or car there. In the first day, I decided to go with the bus but it wasn’t the best choice as the waiting lines were huge.
Once you get there, you have to walk a small distance through the village to get to the festival entrance. Almost all the villagers have opened restaurants, shops or offer street food on that street, so if you want to eat/drink for fewer money, stop and buy something.
When I arrived at the entrance, there weren’t any waiting lines so I changed my ticket into a wristband fast and hurried inside to see what’s new this year.
As usual, the Twitter Wall was the first thing to see. It welcomed the people with ‘Beautiful Chaos Inside’ message.
After a bit of walking around the Banffy domain, the castle come into view. This year, the Castle flipped into an art installation! Some of the world’s best new media artists, alongside local artists from Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, created some special custom-made artworks for the festival. It was absolutely breathtaking.
I totally loved the vibe of the festival and how well it was organized. Cannot wait for next year’s edition.
Here are some small videos from Bring Me The Horizon’s concert and two of the outfits I chose for this festival.
See you next year Electric Castle!
